Wedding Bagpiper in Tauranga & the Bay of Plenty

Damo the Piper playing the bagpipes at a wedding

There are few sounds as stirring as the bagpipes on a wedding day. Whether you have Scottish or Irish heritage, or simply love the drama and romance of the pipes, live bagpipe music turns key moments of your day into memories your guests will talk about for years.

I'm Damian Hodgetts, known as Damo the Piper, a professional bagpiper based in Tauranga with over a decade of piping experience, including as Pipe Major of the Bay of Plenty Pipes & Drums. I've piped at weddings large and small, indoors and outdoors, from beach ceremonies at Mount Maunganui to vineyard and garden venues across the Bay of Plenty.

Wedding Bagpiper FAQs

How much does a wedding bagpiper cost?

It depends on your venue's location, how long you'd like me there and what you'd like played. Send me your date and venue and I'll come back to you with a free, no-obligation quote.

Can you learn a special tune for our wedding?

In most cases, yes. If the melody suits the range of the bagpipes I'm happy to arrange and learn a request. The earlier you ask, the more time I have to prepare it.

Can you play indoors and outdoors?

Absolutely. The pipes need no amplification and sound wonderful in churches, gardens, beaches and reception venues alike.

Do you travel outside Tauranga?

Yes. Anywhere in the Bay of Plenty is easy, and I'm happy to discuss travel beyond the region.
